What is Sustainable Development? 
Sustainable Development is a blanket term that can refer to subjects such as economics to education. In terms of real estate and land development, sustainable development is the practice approaching the built environment with the following in mind:
  • Environmental Impacts 
  • Social Well-Being 
  • Minimal Waste
The ultimate goal of sustainable development is to raise structures that do not contribute to climate change while finding ways to make it equitable. 
What is Regenerative Development?
Regenerative Development goes a step further than sustainable development and seeks to improve the surrounding environment through the use of careful planning and innovative technologies. 

Regenerative Development focuses on both the physical space that it encompasses as well as the social fabric of those who interact with the structure and space.

Adaptable Architecture

"Adaptive Architecture is a multi-disciplinary field concerned with buildings that are designed to adapt to their environments, their inhabitants and objects as well as those buildings that are entirely driven by internal data." -Holger Schnädelbach DipArch MArch PhD

I posit that adaptive architecture can help mitigate the negative effects of climate change and eventually lead to so called net-positive buildings, where the structure not only refrains from creating a carbon footprint, but actively reverses the impact of previous and surrounding structures. 

Why Do These Strategies Matter?

Climate Change has been cited by leading scientists as one of the largest threats to humanity. If you take a more US centric approach, I will direct you to a statement by Daniel R. Coats, Director of National Intelligence, where he outlines climate change as a threat to national security.

The strategies contained within this website are to offer actionable and quantifiable steps that citizens can take to curtail excess carbon emissions and build an environment for the future. Without a collective effort to build structures in a sustainable manner, and reach for options that can even improve the environment, I believe we are destined to live in a harsh and unsafe conditions for centuries to come. 

For the pessimist that does not believe we can stop the path of damage to the earth, adaptive architecture can allow you to better equip your structures with ways to change to the climate, and whatever other threats come with that scenario. 

Goals of this Site

This website is built for individuals and entities that would like to build structures sustainably by utilizing adaptive architecture. 

Additionally, this website can and should be used by anyone who wants to spread the basic knowledge of sustainable development and adaptive architecture. This will begin as a starting point for some of my favorite ideas within the space, and develop into a comprehensive source of information to be used by enthusiasts and professionals alike. 

Lastly, I will offer my research skills to non-profits and other organizations that are looking to benefit the environment and their communities. If someone does not have the means or the data to support a request to use adaptive architecture within a propose project, I will help with the research and even assist in identifying companies in your area that you can work with. 

Since I am located in Denver, Colorado and I am from Miami, FL, I will begin finding companies that work with these methods in those cities.
